Customer Speak: The Success Of Accessible Bowling Event In Bengaluru
Sagar Baheti, our guest writer, went bowling after 4 years since he started losing his vision. He was excited as well as nervous when he received his invitation to the Accessible Bowling event by Enable Experiences held on Sunday, 8th July in Bengaluru. Read on to know about his experience at the very first Accessible Bowling event of India.
Since I started losing my vision, I always thought it would be difficult given my low vision. When I got the invite from Enable Travel for the Accessible Bowling event, I was quite apprehensive. Even though I don’t have a problem getting around by myself, I wondered if I could really bowl.
I got there a little after the start time and was pleasantly surprised to see so many people participating and bowling. I was accompanied by a friend and we noticed how a lot of attention was given to the details like setting up ramps for wheelchair users, a very convenient stand made for some users to be able to bowl who have limited hand mobility.
The organising team including Akshay, Urvashi and the staff at amoeba were courteous and understanding of the needs of every participant. We all got our turn to bowl and it took me a little time and got a useful tip by the staff to look and aim at the arrows as it was hard for me to see the pins. I slowly got the hang of it and I think I did pretty well and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
This event was a great opportunity to connect with new people and discover interesting stories. Sunil, a wheelchair-user was bowling for the first time in his life and he couldn’t contain his smile every time he knocked down a few pins!
The event was followed by a good lunch and a lot of great conversations. I’m looking forward to the next event in Bengaluru and I would strongly recommend and want to bring along more friends the next time!
