Customer Speak: I Strongly Recommend The Accessible Bowling Event!

Sagar Baheti, our guest writer, went bowling after four years. When he received his invitation to the Accessible Bowling event arranged by Enable Experiences on Sunday, July 8th in Bengaluru, he was both excited as well as nervous. Would he be able to enjoy the sport he liked so much before he started losing his vision four years ago? Read all about his experience, in his own words, as he talks about India’s very first Accessible Bowling event, powered by Enable Travel.

Accessible bowling in India, Bowling for the disabled

When I started losing my vision, I thought the sport of bowling would be difficult for me, given my rapidly dimming vision. So, when I got the invite from Enable Travel for the Accessible Bowling event, I was quite apprehensive. Although I don’t have a problem getting around by myself, I wondered if I could bowl again.

I reached the event a little after it started and was pleasantly surprised to see so many people participating and bowling. I was accompanied by a friend and we noticed how a lot of attention was put into the detailing. There were ramps set up for wheelchair users and a convenient stand made for users with limited hand mobility to be able to bowl, among other things.

The Enable Travel organising team, including Akshay, Urvashi and the staff at Amoeba were very courteous and had an understanding of the needs of every participant. We all got a turn to bowl; it took me a little time before I got a useful tip from the staff to look and aim at the arrows on aisle because it was hard for me to see the pins at the end. I slowly got the hang of it and I think I did pretty well too; I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This bowling event was a great opportunity to connect with new people and discover interesting stories. Sunil, a wheelchair-user, was bowling for the first time in his life and he couldn’t contain his smile every time he knocked down a few pins!

The event was followed by a good lunch and a lot of great conversations. I’m looking forward to the next event in Bengaluru, and I would strongly recommend and want to bring along more friends the next time!
